Ardaghey situated some 5 kms southwest of Monaghan town is where an active and vibrant rural community gather to worship and celebrate. The Church of Saint Michael is on the site of an earlier church. The latter church was dedicated by Bishop James Donnelly on Sunday 14th November 1877.
Between 1987 and 1989 the church underwent major renovations under the direction of architect Richard Hurley and on June 24th 1990 Bishop Joseph Duffy officiated at its rededication.
